We believe that as followers of Jesus we are called to love boldly. We love boldly when we care for God’s creation and God’s children. We love boldly when we reach out to those who are in need, both here in our community and those beyond. We take on projects like our Highway Cleanup, volunteering at Hope House, CROP Walk, summer mission trips and more.
LEADERSHIP
By the nature of our baptism we are all called to share in God’s ministry. God has given each of us special gifts. You will find many opportunities to share your gifts and lead in the life of our congregation. Our students regularly lead in worship as lectors, receiving the offering, and serving communion. Many also enjoy helping in our children’s ministries and VBS in the summer.
2010 International Mission Trip -
25 of our LSCC adults and youth just returned from a spirit-filled week in Costa Rica where we served in a Presbyterian Church, La Colina de San Francisco in San Jose. We worked on multiple projects in the church including scraping & painting playground equipment in the community playground, building a storage closet, and demolishing a bathroom so that it can be remodeled as an accessible bathroom. All of these projects are part of the process for this church to open a Daycare Center. We also visited Mi Tia, a Daycare Center that the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) supports through our weekly offerings. During the week we also visited two other congregations, singing, praying, & doing activities with the children.
It is a week we will never forget. We will continue to discover how this week has transformed us and changed us. We experienced God’s love and presence through our brothers & sisters that we met in Costa Rica. Having the opportunity to be a part of what God is already doing in Costa Rica, and sharing our love “from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth” is an incredible blessing.
Thank you to everyone who supported us & prayed for us in preparation for our journey & while we were on our Mission Trip. God is GOOD!!
